Love Washes Like the Tide: Embracing Diversity for Gold Coast Pride

As Pride Month begins to unfold across the globe, a wave of celebration washes over communities. We gather here on the Gold Coast, ready to embrace the vibrant tapestry of the LGBTI+ family. This is a time to honour the fight for equality, the joy of self-expression, and the love that binds us together.

It's also a time for reconciliation, to set aside differences and come together in unity. As we celebrate diversity and inclusion, let us also extend a hand of understanding and acceptance to all members of our community, regardless of background or belief. In this spirit of unity, let us forge bonds of solidarity and mutual respect, reaffirming our commitment to building a more inclusive and compassionate society for all.

With heartfelt thanks, we acknowledge the tireless efforts of those who champion reconciliation, human rights, and safe spaces. Their dedication paves the way for a more inclusive and accepting world for the LGBTI+ community.  In the spirit of gratitude, we offer this prayer as this year's Pride festival opens on Friday, May 31, to Sunday, June 2, 2024:

Love Washes Like the Tide

Divine Rainbow Christ, we gather here on the Gold Coast, bathed in the warm glow of your Holy Spirit, united with our LGBTI+ siblings across the globe. We celebrate the vibrant tapestry of your creation, the LGBTI+ community, woven with threads of love, courage, and joy.

As the rainbow after the storm speaks of your promise and unending love, we see your reflection in the colours of this festival - a kaleidoscope of identities embraced by your divine light. Bless this celebration, Holy Spirit, and all the Pride celebrations happening worldwide. Fill them with laughter, the warmth of friendship, and a profound sense of belonging, may your spirit flourish. May they be sacred spaces for joy, connection, and raising awareness!

Guide us towards a future brimming with inclusivity and understanding. Grant us the strength to dismantle the walls of prejudice and celebrate the beautiful mosaic of human difference, wherever we may be. May the light of this festival radiate outwards, a beacon of hope and inspiration for all.

We pray for your unwavering peace, love, and acceptance for our LGBTI+ family, today and always.
