Embracing Sacred Queerness: God is Non-Binary | Boy Renaissance

God is Non-Binary was created in association with Act Natural Studios, Froonky, Prey Bird Pray, and West End Uniting Church for Transgender Day of Remembrance, 2021; in commemoration of the trans lives that have been lost due to violence and suicide. 

The piece speaks to the perfection of trans identities as part of God. After leaving their evangelical church of origin, Boy Renaissance has worked to deconstruct their own religious trauma and interpretation of Christianity, and now stands for the right of queer people to not only be welcomed for who they are in religious spaces, but to be embraced in leadership as diverse and crucial voices. Queerness is holy, and every LGBTQIA+ person is a reflection of God. 

For Boy Renaissance, moving beyond their evangelical roots was a journey of self-discovery and healing. They've come to see queerness as sacred—a beautiful reflection of the divine. Froonky's art adds a personal touch, making the message resonate deeply. Together, they invite us to embrace a theology where every identity is not just accepted, but celebrated.
