Melbourne Inclusive Church: Pastor Becky's Innovative Approach to Spirit-Filled Living
The highlight of Becky’s lesson today was her introduction of "Spirit-Filled Entrepreneur Activations", a series of activations designed to deepen our spiritual connection while addressing real-life challenges.
Meditating on Becky's message, I can still recall one of my early mentors, David, who emphasised the importance of having a plan for every goal we set out to achieve. Today, Becky's sermon resonates deeply with this principle and the wisdom found in Proverbs 16:3, encouraging us to commit all our plans to the Lord, trusting that He will guide us and align our efforts with His purpose. Becky's teaching serves as a reminder that every dream and goal necessitates a thoughtful plan, especially when settling into a new place like my recent move to Melbourne, emphasising reliance on God's wisdom rather than our own understanding.
Here’s a closer look at what she shared this morning:
We began the activations by closing our eyes and reflecting on our physical health, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide us. Becky encouraged us to ask how we’re doing on a scale of 1 to 10 and to listen to the Spirit’s response. It was a moment of personal introspection and spiritual insight.
Next, we explored a specific problem or challenge in our lives. Surprisingly, Becky asked us to consider how smells or tastes might relate to this issue, encouraging us to think beyond the obvious and tap into our senses for deeper understanding.
Then, we were prompted to envision our future—our homes, careers, families—allowing the Holy Spirit to guide our dreams. It was an exercise in hope and faith, reminding us to trust in God’s plans for our lives.
Lastly, Becky invited us to seek a word of encouragement from the Holy Spirit. It was a moment of affirmation and guidance, reminding us of God’s presence and love in our daily challenges.
One of the most powerful moments was the "Dreaming Activation" where Becky encouraged us to dream without limits. She highlighted that these dreams are personal and sacred, meant to inspire us to live boldly and authentically.
Questions to ponder included:
What do you envision for yourself in the next 5 to 10 years?
Where do you see yourself living, and with whom?
How do you imagine your career, finances, and relationships unfolding?
Becky’s service isn’t just a typical Sunday gathering; it’s a transformative experience founded in progressive Christian values. Her activations offer practical ways to integrate spirituality into our daily lives, fostering personal growth and deeper faith. For those seeking a fresh perspective on Christianity, Becky’s approach challenges traditional norms with inclusivity and compassion. Her commitment to LGBTIQ+ inclusivity is evident in her podcast and YouTube series on their website, "Unclobber" where she tackles challenging texts with empathy and understanding.
Melbourne Inclusive Church invites all folk to embrace the Holy Spirit’s guidance in all aspects of life. It’s an opportunity to experience how faith can inspire meaningful change and spiritual fulfilment. For those interested in attending, a considerable crowd gathered in person, communion was offered, and the service has a run time of approx. 1:45 mins. Pastor Becky closed today's lesson with God's intentions stated in Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
If you’re interested in exploring Melbourne Inclusive Church's activations and services further, I encourage you to join their next service or explore their online resources. It’s a chance to discover how spirituality can empower us to live with purpose and vision, guided by the loving presence of God.
Today's music featured the song "New Wine", which highlights God's ability to transform us. The lyrics in this song are about God reshaping our lives, similar to how grapes are pressed and crushed to produce new wine. This transformation turns us into vessels for the Holy Spirit, empowering us to live a life that reflects His holiness as we seek Him (Matthew 9:14-17, Mark 2:18-22, Luke 5:33-39).
