Daily Devotional: With His Body

Hey wonderful friends! Glad to have you back! Today, we're exploring our daily devotional and sharing a brief, uplifting thought to add a little sparkle to your day. If you have a moment, take a look at Ephesians 2:11-22 in your preferred Bible translation. If you're pressed for time, read the following and note what stands out to you:

"Christ is our peace. He made both Jews and Gentiles into one group. With his body, he broke down the barrier of hatred that divided us. He canceled the detailed rules of the Law so that he could create one new person out of the two groups, making peace. He reconciled them both as one body to God by the cross, which ended the hostility to God. When he came, he announced the good news of peace to you who were far away from God and to those who were near".

The Bible frequently emphasises unity, but it's important to understand this isn't about erasing differences or diminishing identities. Instead, it challenges the systems that devalue certain identities and promotes justice.

Peace in Scripture is deeply connected to justice. The phrase "No justice, no peace" could have come from the Psalms. In his message to the Ephesians, Paul explains that Jesus achieved peace "with His body."

Jesus dismantled barriers of hatred with His own life. He physically engaged in the struggle for truth, justice, and inclusion of the marginalised. To follow Jesus is not merely to agree with doctrines or to pursue superficial unity, but to actively work for justice with our own actions. This approach honours diverse identities and continues Jesus' mission.

Reflection Questions:
What does it mean for you to work for justice with your own actions?
How does this perspective on Jesus' work resonate with you?
Who are the individuals or groups with whom you need to stand in solidarity?

Practical Exercises:
Identify one specific action you can take this week to contribute to justice.
Seek out and listen to voices from communities different from your own, then act on their requests for support.

That concludes today’s devotional! I hope this message has brightened your day. If you found it meaningful, please consider sharing it to spread the positivity. Thank you for joining us today—remember to celebrate your uniqueness! Stay well and keep a positive mindset until we meet again.
