A Blessed Evening: Estelle’s Baptism & the First Day of Advent at Southport Uniting Church

Shared by the Editor

Hello readers,

I’m delighted to share a special moment from our Southport Uniting Church congregation with you. Our blog reaches thousands of readers worldwide, with over 20,000 hits a month, and it’s always a joy to highlight the ways in which our communities are growing, living out their faith, and celebrating meaningful milestones together. Tonight, we had a beautiful experience at our 5pm service that I simply had to share.

It was a truly special occasion for our congregation, filled with grace and gratitude, as we witnessed the baptism of Estelle—a beautiful soul who chose to publicly declare her faith and commitment to Christ. Her baptism was a powerful reminder of the love and unity that bind our church family together. 🙏✨

As we gathered to celebrate Estelle’s baptism, we were reminded of the power of community, the beauty of shared faith, and the deep sense of belonging that we find in one another. Baptism, as an outward symbol of an inward transformation, marks the beginning of a new chapter in Estelle's journey of faith. What a joy it was to share in this milestone with her, surrounded by the warmth and support of our Southport congregation.

But the celebration didn’t stop there! We also marked the beginning of Advent, the season of anticipation, hope, and preparation as we await the birth of our Saviour. The first day of Advent is always a special time for reflection and renewal, and what better way to kick it off than with a wonderful dinner together. It was a time of fellowship, laughter, and connection, a reminder that the heart of our church is built on the relationships we nurture and the love we share.

One of the most beautiful aspects of our congregation is its diversity. People from different backgrounds, cultures, and walks of life come together to worship, to support one another, and to grow in faith. This diversity is a true reflection of the Kingdom of God, where all are welcome, regardless of their differences. Tonight, as we celebrated Estelle’s baptism and shared a meal together, it was a powerful reminder of how the love of Christ unites us, making us stronger and more beautiful as a community.

As we look back on this beautiful evening, it’s clear that our congregation is flourishing—not just in numbers, but in faith. It’s such a blessing to witness the growth and strength of our church family, and we are deeply grateful for each and every person who makes up this vibrant, diverse community. Through moments like Estelle’s baptism and the shared joy of Advent, we are reminded of the grace that surrounds us and the hope that carries us forward.

As we journey through this season of Advent, we look forward to more milestones, more blessings, and more moments of faith and fellowship. May this time be filled with anticipation as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ and continue to grow together in His love, united in our diversity and strengthened by the shared bond of faith.

Here’s to a season of faith, hope, and the incredible blessings that come with being part of this church family. ✨

A Prayer for Advent and New Beginnings

Gracious God,

We thank You for the blessings of this evening, for the joy we have shared as a church family, and for the sacred moment of Estelle’s baptism. We celebrate her new life in Christ and the way Your love binds us all together.

As we begin this Advent season, we pray that You would fill our hearts with hope and anticipation for the coming of our Savior. May this season of waiting be a time of deep reflection, spiritual renewal, and joyful fellowship.

We thank You for the beautiful diversity within our congregation, for the unique gifts each person brings, and for the way You unite us in faith. We pray that our church will continue to grow in love, understanding, and grace, so that all may find a home here in Your presence.

Bless us as we walk together through Advent, strengthening our bonds with one another and with You. May Your peace, love, and light guide us through this season and into the new year.

In Jesus’ name we pray,

Amen.
