Blessed Are Those Who Persevere

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him." - James 1:12

Dear beloved child of God,

Today's reflection speaks directly to those who know what it means to persevere through trials, especially our LGBTQ+ siblings in faith who often face rejection, isolation, or misunderstanding within religious spaces. Your journey of faith, while beautiful, may sometimes feel lonely or challenging.

When James wrote about those who persevere under trial, he spoke of a profound truth that resonates deeply with queer people of faith. Like a rainbow after a storm, God's promise shines brightest in our moments of trial. Your persistence in maintaining your faith, even when others question your place in God's family, is not unseen. Every time you choose to pray despite feeling excluded, every moment you continue to worship despite others' judgment, you are demonstrating the very perseverance James speaks about.

Remember that Jesus himself was often in the company of those whom society marginalised. He consistently showed that God's love knows no boundaries, no exclusions, and no conditions. Your perseverance in faith, despite challenges, is a powerful testimony to this truth.
